Morton Mains Nursery and Preschool
Bright Horizons are delighted to announce that once again we have been listed as one of Scotland's Best Workplaces by the Great Place to Work Institute. We have also received a special award for 'Trusted Leadership' which is supported by the Chartered Management Institute.
Morton Mains Farm nursery is located within a beautiful, old stone-built farmhouse on the outskirts of Edinburgh, on an estate set in rural surroundings. We have easy access to the City Bypass, but the nursery itself sits well away from the main road, framed by woods and fields.
All rooms are light and airy, especially our baby room, which has a separate secure indoor and outdoor areas for sleeping babies. With rooms for different age groups, we ensure that our babies and children have opportunities to learn and develop as individuals.
We offer a range of activities for babies and toddlers, including art, music story time and creative play. For pre-school children we also begin the introduction to school subjects like reading, writing, maths and science. We enjoy taking advantage of our natural setting with lots of outdoor learning - children love visiting the horses in the surrounding fields and our large secure gardens offer excellent opportunities for exploration along the wooded paths, and for planting, tending and harvesting their own vegetables. We also have a large climbing frame in the garden to keep our little ones fit and active."I am very pleased with the care and development which my daughter receives at Morton Mains Nursery. The staff are fantastic-very warm and welcoming and I know that my daughter is in safe hands.”-Parent at Morton Mains Farmhouse
Morton Mains Farm Nursery is very much involved with the larger local community - parents, children and staff collaborate to raise funds for local charities, our children have recently enjoyed chats with our local policeman, and the library bus visits every third Thursday, when children of all ages get to take part in choosing books.“Morton Main Farm is world class”-Parent at Morton Mains Farmhouse
We use the local church for our Christmas nativity play, and for graduation when our children make the move to ‘big’ school. Parents are encouraged to take an active part in nursery life and at Morton Mains we pride ourselves on having a strong, active parent partnership group.
“Children can influence the programme through circle times and individual discussions with staff. Children were observed to be able to choose what activities they wanted to play with and whether they wanted to play in a group or on their own. The nursery had developed a "children's committee" where a number of children were nominated to make comment of the activities and future plans of the nursery.”-Care Commission Report for Morton Mains Farmhouse
