A place to grow

Potten End Day Nursery and Preschool (formerly Muddy Puddles children's day nursery) in Hertfordshire is committed to providing the best possible Early Years environment for your child.

Our dedicated staff will cherish and nurture your child, encouraging them to develop friendships, independence, curiosity and, most importantly of all, to have fun! Children attending the nursery are cared for in one of four rooms, moving between these as they achieve developmental milestones, loosely reached in line with their age. Resources and activities within each room are aimed at encouraging further development within the seven key areas of learning and development. Additional equipment and resources within the four rooms are aimed at extending and supporting the key areas defined in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Messy play, painting, gluing, mark-making, baking, stories, construction, threading, imaginative play and dressing up are amongst the indoor activities which are all enjoyed across the nursery on a regular basis.

An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

Uniquely situated in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, we endeavour to make the most of our rural surroundings to enhance your child’s development through outdoor play and learning, be it joining together for a nursery picnic, discovering creepy crawlies on a woodland walk or watching awestruck as an incubated chick emerges from its shell, our aim is to fill your child’s nursery days with exciting experiences and challenges.

Mealtimes at Potten End are a happy, social occasion for children and staff alike. All our food is prepared and cooked daily on site by our chef and we offer a healthy, balanced diet as well as meeting individual needs and preferences.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
