Harpenden nursery rated outstanding by Ofsted
Bright Horizons Harpenden Central Day Nursery and Preschool has been rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted following its recent inspection. The report acknowledges the bond between the children, practitioners, and parents, and commends the environment created by the team at the nursery to support children in their growth and independence.
The nursery received its inspection on October 25th, with all categories passing with an ‘outstanding’ status. Ofsted reports on four key categories; ‘quality of education,’ ‘behaviour and attitudes,’ ‘personal development,’ and ‘leadership and management.’
The inspection was carried out through various tasks including observing the interactions between practitioners and children as they carried out activities. Comments from the report included:
- “Staff encourage children to take the lead in activities. They support children’s growing knowledge with high-quality interactions.”
- “Partnerships with parents is of an exceptionally high standard.”
- “Children demonstrate exceptionally high levels of independence.”
- “Staff plan exciting activities based on children’s interests. They extend and adapt them well to ensure they remain suitably challenging for all children.”

It is an honour to be an Ofsted outstanding nursery and we couldn’t have done it without an excellent team who work so well together. We always look to give children the very best start in their early years through our enriching and wellbeing focused Bright Beginnings Curriculum. We will endeavour to maintain our outstanding grading and will continue working together with our families, enabling children to fulfil their full potential - academically, socially and emotionally.”
