The 2023 UK’s Best Workplaces™ for Women list was launched this morning by Great Place to Work® UK, recognising the nursery, employer solutions and back-up care provider Bright Horizons among its ranked organisations.
It is another fabulous honour for Bright Horizons, which sees the company continue its 2022 feat of appearing in three Great Place to Work® UK lists. Bright Horizons has featured as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces™ for Women since this list first started in 2018. Earlier this year, Bright Horizons secured its 18th consecutive annual listing in the UK’s Best Workplaces (Super Large category) list, and it was named for a second successive year in the UK's Best Workplaces™ for Wellbeing. This particular list launched by Great Place to Work® in 2022, showcases organisations who stand out as delivering exceptional wellbeing support for their employees across all levels and departments.
Ros Marshall, Managing Director UK at Bright Horizons, said: “Our company is shaped by our HEART values, Honesty, Excellence, Accountability, Respect, and Teamwork. We are proud that these remain our guiding principles and help to create our working environment and a culture that is fair for all. It is a wonderful honour to be recognised again in this prestigious list. We value and celebrate the unique experiences, perspectives and identities of every individual in our diverse family. We are a deeply human business and caring is in our nature, it is the reason why people join us, colleagues stay with us and clients choose to partner with us. Together, we strive to ensure our environment is welcoming, inclusive and equitable.”
These three Great Place to Work® lists are significant markers of the Bright Horizons organisational culture where colleagues trust and value each other and all employees are encouraged and enabled to reach their full potential. One of the key hallmarks of a career at Bright Horizons is the dedicated approach taken to training and development.
Bronwen Burton, Head of Work and Family Transformation, said: “One of the most inspiring things about working at Bright Horizons is how Personal and Professional Development are embedded in the culture. Learning is an integral part of the organisation, and the Senior Leadership Course has provided me with some amazing opportunities. Not many organisations take the honest approach of educating and training their leaders to be leaders before they move into those positions, ensuring that when they do so, it’s with confidence and skill, allowing themselves and their teams to flourish.”
In 2022, Bright Horizons launched two innovative programmes to nurture talent for leadership from all areas of the business to support continued business success while also meeting individual career aspirations. The Leaders Talent and Senior Leaders Talent Programmes are 16-module syllabi, which embed the core leadership qualities, skills and behaviours that drive high performance within the organisation. Bright Horizons also pledges to put Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the heart of its organisation so that the entire Bright Horizons family is open to, and inclusive of, everyone. Bright Horizons now has a grassroots led DEIB Group of colleagues who are both listeners and champions, taking concerns and questions from their teams and working with all functions within the business to help create new practices and policies. This group now leads and owns the Bright Horizons DEIB commitment.
Amanda McCann, Co-Chair of the DEIB Group at Bright Horizons, said: “We are committed to creating inclusive environments where everyone has a sense of belonging and has the opportunity to contribute and thrive in meaningful and impactful ways. I hope to use my platform to empower employees across the business to feel as though they can bring their whole selves to work.”
Benedict Gautrey, Managing Director of Great Place to Work® UK, explains: “We’re delighted to announce our 2023 collection of the Best Workplaces™ for Women for the sixth consecutive year. This list celebrates the workplaces that are not just providing a great work environment for all, but are ensuring they’re creating a positive and supportive environment for women too. Each of the companies on our list have been commended by their own female employees who have anonymously told us their workplace has gone above and beyond to ensure that women employees are treated fairly in terms of recognition, training, and promotion opportunities. Ensuring people aren’t discriminated against, placing positive value on our differences, creating fair access and advancement for all, and fostering a sense of value and empowerment in employees is what being a Great Place to Work® is all about. It is fantastic to once again celebrate so many Best Workplaces™ for Women this year, across all sectors and organisational sizes.”
