Aberdeen teen Receives Parliamentary Motion Certificate

Jenni Emmanuel, a 17-year-old from Aberdeen, was awarded a Parliamentary Motion certificate on Friday 31st May, for her winning the Foundation Apprentice of the Year accolade at the Scottish Apprenticeship Awards 2024.

Jenni, an Early Years Assistant currently completing a Modern Apprenticeship through Aberlour Futures, at Bright Horizons Treehouse Early Care and Education Centre, was presented her certificate from Liam Kerr, MP for North East Scotland, at Treehouse nursery. The certificate was supported by 30 other MPs who recognised Jenni’s outstanding work in childcare.

On March 8th, she was named Foundation Apprentice of the Year in an event held at the city’s P&J as part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week. Jenni received the celebrated accolade due to her going the extra mile during her work placement as a Foundation Apprenticeship in Social Services: Children and Young People, in her final year at school. The awards are an annual event which celebrate outstanding apprentices, their employers, instructors, and mentors from across Scotland.

Liam Kerr, MP for North East Scotland said: “It is a great honour and privilege to award Jenni a Parliamentary Motion Certificate for her outstanding contribution to Early Years education during her time as an apprentice. Her enthusiasm and dedication to providing high quality care and education is inspiring to all of us, especially those who are beginning a career in Early Years education.”

Jenni, at Treehouse Early Care and Learning Centre said: “I have always wanted a career in Early Years education, and doing the Foundation Apprenticeship really helped with my job interview for Treehouse nursery because I could talk about my experiences and show what I had learned already. I feel so proud of myself that I’ve achieved this recognition, and I’m so excited to see how my job role will progress where I can continue working with young children, which is a career I feel really passionate about!”
