North Finchley nursery receives ‘Outstanding’ in Ofsted report

Bright Horizons North Finchley Day Nursery and Preschool has been rated ‘Outstanding’ following its most recent inspection. The report praises the practitioners for placing a great emphasis on providing children with the most stimulating activities, where children of all stages of development are inspired to learn.

North Finchley Outstanding

The nursery received its inspection on April 30th, with all categories passing with the ‘Outstanding’ status. Ofsted report on four key categories; quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership management. The inspection was carried out through a variety of tasks including staff and parent interviews and observational activities. Comments from the report included: 

  • Children with SEND make excellent progress from their starting points. Staff ensure they understand children's needs and provide the support necessary for them to engage in planned activities. The designated special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) is knowledgeable and very proactive at ensuring timely referrals to external professionals, when appropriate.” 
  • “Parents say they appreciate the support and fantastic learning environment provided for their children. They feel staff work exceptionally well with them to support children's home learning. The leaders 'ready to read' scheme, together with staff's enthusiastic attitudes when reading stories to children, have ignited children's interest in books which they routinely borrow to take home.” 
  • Children are remarkably motivated learners with tremendously positive attitudes to learning. Staff provide children with the most stimulating activities. Children of all stages of development are inspired to learn and are deeply engaged in their activities.”

It’s great to see how our nurturing interaction with the children was recognised in the inspection. Our team continue to provide high quality Early Year’s education where we support and nurture each child to progress and develop through our Nurture Approach. We support children to develop valuable skills so that they can cope with challenges and build positive relationships with others as they learn and grow.” 

The Nurture Approach puts children’s emotional development and wellbeing at the centre of the nurseries everyday practice recognising that children’s wellbeing and emotional development is key to all aspects of learning.

The Nurture Model professional development training programme was developed by Bright Horizons in the UK in partnership with clinical psychologist, Dr Sarah Mundy. It recognises and supports the unique developmental needs of the child focusing on healthy emotional development and indicators of wellbeing.
