Exceptional Bracknell nursery shortlisted for top industry accolade

Bright Horizons Bracknell Day Nursery and Preschool has been named as a finalist in the prestigious Nursery World Awards for its outstanding community support.

The nursery, which is located on Wokingham Road, has an initiative in place that puts community engagement at its heart.

Nursery Manager Louise explains: “We all care for our world and our community. Central to our approach is the belief that early education and community involvement go hand in hand. We’re able to educate children, while involving families and collaborating with local businesses and organisations too.”Exceptional Bracknell nursery shortlisted for top industry accolade

Bracknell Nursery has created tangible benefits for the community in lots of different green ways. For example, the setting is a member of the 'Binfield Environmental Group'. They provide families with loaned litter-picking equipment, including gloves, bags, and grabbers. This provision not only facilitates their participation but also ensures their safety and encourages regular engagement in community cleanup activities. Another example is their participation in events like the Great British Spring Clean.

Louise said: “We’ve worked hard to involve parents and their extended families in outdoor events and regularly provide resources for nature-based activities. This has resulted in the nursery having a direct impact on family life and family bonds, as well as encouraging healthy lifestyle habits.”

Bracknell Nursery's collaboration with local schools has also been successful. By inspiring other educators to incorporate environmental conservation into their curriculum, they've empowered students to take ownership of their surroundings. Inclusivity and diversity are high on the priority list at the Bracknell setting, which also has had a ripple effect across the sector in the region. By collaborating with local education authorities and participating in community workshops, the nursery has shared best practices and resources to support other early years settings in implementing inclusive curriculums and creating welcoming environments for all children and families.

The Nursery World Awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 21st September 2024 at The Brewery, London.
