Nursery practitioner from Enfield shortlisted for Early Years Apprentice of the Year

Mohamed, an Early Years Assistant at Bright Horizons Cedar House Day Nursery and Preschool in Enfield has been shortlisted for the ‘Early Years Apprentice of the Year’ Nursery World Award.

He is one of only five nursery apprentices to make this category shortlist as one of the finalists in the Nursery World 2024 Awards. These prestigious awards are open to everyone involved in childcare and education and highlight truly inspirational work.

Mohamed began his journey in Early Years education as a Nursery Assistant in April 2022, he was then encouraged by his management team to develop his role as a Level 3 Early Years apprenticeship.Mohamed

Since starting his apprenticeship, Mohamed has been a driving force for creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for each child at the nursery. He has been recognised for creating a mini-PE curriculum, encouraged to help children’s social development and emotional growth, he’s tailored different activities to each child’s individual needs to help build their confidence. His passion for learning also led him to take interest in Behavioural Training which has enabled him to help children with diverse needs such as SEN (Special Educational Needs).

Mohamed said: “Since beginning my role as a Nursery Assistant in 2022, I have really enjoyed gaining practical experience and getting to work with children every day. It’s been such a great experience being able to learn from my colleagues and management team who have helped guide me through the different challenges and opportunities in connecting with the children. I hope this inspires other men to consider a career in Early Years, as it’s a rewarding and valuable role to be in where you can make a real difference to children’s growth and development.”
