Cambridge nursery recognised for its Nurture Approach in Ofsted report

Bright Horizons Wolfson Court Day Nursery and Preschool in Cambridge has been rated ‘Outstanding’ for the second time following its most recent inspection. The report praises the practitioners for providing a wealth of wonderful and rich learning opportunities for the children.

The nursery received its inspection on July 1st, with all categories passing with the ‘Outstanding’ status. Ofsted report on four key categories; quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership management. The inspection was carried out through a variety of tasks including staff and parent interviews and observational activities. Comments from the report included:

  • “The ambitious and meticulously designed curriculum is tailored to meet children's individual needs superbly through embracing children's interests. This results in confident and resilient children who have a genuine love for learning. They make excellent progress.”

  • “Staff skilfully identify pertinent moments in children's play to help them to identify and understand their own emotions. Dedicated calm areas prove to be a welcome retreat. Children independently use breathing techniques that staff teach them. This successfully helps them to regulate their behaviour.”

  • “Staff successfully prioritise children's well-being and emotional growth through the nursery's bespoke nurture approach. Children demonstrate a strong sense of belonging and are highly inquisitive.”
  • “Staff benefit from highly effective training opportunities that support them to deliver exceptional care and teaching to all children. Recent training has further enhanced their understanding of children's brain development and how cognitive circuits are formed to enable children to process and respond to new information.”

The Nurture Approach puts children’s emotional development and wellbeing at the centre of the nurseries everyday practice recognising that children’s wellbeing and emotional development is key to all aspects of learning.
