Basingstoke nursery has been awarded their second consecutive Green Flag accreditation for their commitment to educating children on the earth and its future. Guided by the Eco-School's seven-step framework, the team at Basingstoke are constantly inventing new ways to empower their young people and teaching care for the world around them through tangible action.
Charlotte, Nursery Manager at Basingstoke said: “I’m so proud that we’ve achieved our Green Flag award! The children love getting stuck in and coming up with brilliant ways to change our community. If the eco committee continues to creatively engage with the environment and do our part to educate future generations then we can make our small corner of the world a better place.”
When the children aren’t planting vegetables, they might be engaging with waste management companies in the local area, finding their zen during animal yoga, or planting over 100 sunflowers! But the nursery’s hard work isn’t just focused on the outside; Inside the nursery the children learn about the importance of environmental issues with considerate and comprehensive lessons. In their report Eco Schools commented: “You have created passionate young environmentalists, excited about protecting our planet, and empowered to make a difference.”
Basingstoke joins over 60 Bright Horizons nurseries nationwide who are passionately educating children, parents, and staff on the importance of environmental issues through the Eco-School's Program.
