Bright Horizons’ Surrey Attains Outstanding Ofsted Rating

Bright Horizons’ Caterham the Laurels Day Nursery and Preschool is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded an Outstanding rating in all areas by Ofsted. The recent inspection emphasised the positive impact of the nursery’s celebration of home languages, robust safeguarding measures, and action in the local community. Ofsted praised Caterham the Laurels for its "passionate and highly effective" management team who are building well-rounded, holistically supported young people.

Key areas of excellence highlighted by Ofsted include:

Exceptional Teaching and Learning: The team’s rich experience and understanding of child development is evident in the “ambitious curriculum [which has] a focus on nurturing children and developing their skills.” Learning opportunities extend beyond the classroom and into the community so that the children are “highly independent” and “caring” young people by the time they move on to school.

Focus on Wellbeing: Caterham the Laurels have made an exceptional effort to create a caring, homely, and safe environment where children feel settled and able to build confidence. Ofsted found that the “Children's well-being is highly valued and supported extremely well,” thanks to the staff’s dedication to creating “cosy corners” which prioritise emotional and social development.
