Portswood Day Nursery and Preschool (Formerly Westwood Park Day Nursery) in Southampton looks after children aged 3 months to five years in a beautiful home from home setting.
Our fantastic day nursery boasts beautiful rooms filled with high-quality, natural resources with every room finished to an exceptional standard to provide the best learning and play environment for the under-fives. From sensory development in babies to learning new ICT skills in preschool, children have a great time as they get that all important head start on school education. Each room is equipped with high quality, wooden resources for the children to access, all of which are supplied by Community Playthings. We have a large, natural garden which our preschool room benefits from free flowing activities.
An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.
The garden also has a wooden climbing structure and a staging area for all of our budding actors and actresses. The facilities in the garden, allow us to access it year round, come rain or shine. We are located within the catchment of many schools, including Highfield and Portswood Schools.
Our friendly, experienced and highly qualified staff are on hand to conduct a personal nursery tour at a time to suit you.

I worked for 20 years in London working in Local Authority Nurseries, building my career from Nursery Nurse to Manager (Including managing a Children's Centre) I have a Degree in leadership and Managegement. I have been the Manager at Westwood Park since 2013.My passion is the provision of a safe environment for children to learn and have oportunities and activities that support this whilst working in partnership with parents.
I started my career in childcare in this Nursery in September 2012.
I have level 3 diploma in childcare and education and a level 2 in Team leading and Management. I started as a Nursery Nurse working my way up to the Deputy through the years.
I have a commitment to ensure that we provide a safe environment for children to learn and explore opportunities that support their choices and I feel that this is what is implemented on a daily basis in our setting.
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
