An Outstanding Nursery with Forest School

Royal Earlswood Day Nursery and Preschool in Redhill is based in a converted Victorian house with light, airy rooms, and our large garden provides a one-of-a-kind learning experience for the under-fives.  The children enjoy daily activities with our trained Forest School Leader including climbing, swinging, building, woodcraft and fire lighting. During forest school session the children have; planted, grown and harvested their own fruits and vegetables in the garden, built shelters and a bug hotel, whittled pencils and learnt about life cycles of all the animals and creatures they have observed.

Forest school is child led, enabling children to connect with nature, assess their own risks and promotes challenges. The forest school environment, where children work as a team and family, enables all who participate to increase their abilities of emotional self-expression in a setting without prejudices. The natural environment gives a sense of spirituality and promotes ideas of morality and respect of the world around us.

Our nursery is rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted and is innovative, stimulating and inspiring for children and staff alike. We believe in building strong relationships with families and our experienced team is here to answer your questions and support you and your child throughout your time with us. We regularly communicate with parents through newsletters, parents' evenings and social evenings.

An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

We offer flexible settling-in sessions, arranged to suit you, and our open-door policy means we remain open to all parents, providing them with a detailed handover at the end of the day. We have three schools very close to the nursery; Earlswood School is a ten-minute walk away, St. John’s School twenty minutes and Salford’s School a short car journey.

I have been at Royal Earlswood since I transferred from another bright horizons in 2016. I have been with bright horizons since 2012 when I joined the company as a nursery nurse and I have been in childcare since 2009. My daughter also attends the royal Earlswood setting and shares my love of the nursery. I enjoy all aspects of my role and work alongside my team to provide the children in our care the best opportunities for learning and play.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
